She may be to blame, but should she die?
Yes, Marilyn was to blame. Anyone who is half competent and can read the sign on the door would know that they were doing something wrong. Plus there was the fact that she was hiding in the closet. If you are hiding and/or are afraid of getting caught, chances are you're doing something wrong. Also she knew she would have to pay a fine, but she didn't know that the fine would be her life. She knew her actions would have consequences, but not that they would be so grave. She just thought she would have to pay some money or do chores, not be killed when he young life has barely begun. Not for such innocent intentions as wanting to see her brother. Though I believe she must die this time to save the lives of seven other people, I think the commanders of the ships should make some adjustments based on this. They should start giving each EDS a little extra fuel for emergencies. Not just for stowaways that nobody wants to kill, but for other emergencies as well. So, yes I believe Marilyn is to blame and fully responsible for her actions, and must inevitably die this time, but nobody thinks she deserves to die (except John who is a sadist).
