Inside MacDuff's Head

Maybe I should have gone to the coronation. It probably looks suspicious that I didn't. I couldn't handle being there because I'm so confused about what happened. I can't decide who murdered King Duncan. His sons fled, but why would they have done it? They would have become king one day anyway. They didn't seem like the type to kill their father just so one of them could have the throne a few years sooner. Macbeth would have been in line after them. I don't want to suspect our new king of murder, but how can I not? He's a kind and loyal man, but the idea of power can intoxicate anyone. He does have a wife that seems like she could be easily corrupted. I just don't know. What if it was Banquo? But what possible reason could he have? It makes sense that it could have been the guards, but why? What reason would they have? Maybe they were bribed by somebody. But who? Who would murder our king? There are so many people who could, and would, have done it. This is why I couldn't go to the coronation. I couldn't be around all thse people that might have murdered Duncan. I'll have to think more about this and try to figure it out.
